Camel treks

Fdhil is the guide and camel-driver seconded by Sylvie who accompanies all the groups and is the interface between the Tunisian team and you.
You can sleep in nomad tents for 6 people, in Igloo tents for 2 or under the stars. Mattresses and blankets are provided.
Food, with Tunisian specialities is provided by the camel-drivers.
Your baggage is transported by the camels.
On trek you walk slowly, each person respecting his/her personal rhythm, with regular stops to eat, drink, observe and contemplate…
Before starting off on the trek, the camels are brought together, wood is collected for the fire, food is prepared, bread made and there is time to look at the sun rising and the moon setting. On arrival we can enjoy the sunset and moonrise.
We can observe the tracks that animals have left in the sand : fennecs, gazelles, jerboas, jackals, she-camels and their young, wild donkeys, birds…
The camel-drivers will help us to understand and love the desert.
From November to April, the temperature is mild and your stay agreeable.

As our arrangements are 'tailor-made' for our clients it's difficult to give a fixed price.

However to give you an idea, here are some prices per person for a trek or for a stay including all basic requirements for a group of at least 5 people excluding the airfare.

Our camel treks (2008 prices) Based on 5 people

"La roses des sables"

An 8 day stay : 440 €
A 5 days trek from Omi Henda to Sidi Merzourg. We will go accross the dunes, see marabout wells and sand roses.

"Sabria - Aïn Chott "

Séjour de 8 jours : 457 €
5 jours de marche. C'est un circuit qui part de Sabria et qui se termine à Djebil, petit massif montagneux situé à 80 km au sud de Douz. Alternance aussi de dunes et de steppes.
Au fil des jours, les dunes se transforment en cordons dunaires. De ce fait, les dunes sont plus élevées que dans l'autre randonnée. Plus grande immersion dans le désert.

"Traversée de l'Erg Oriental"

An 15 day stay : 755 €
10 day's trek from Sabria to Bir Aouine. Total immersion in the desert with its hot springs surrounded by reeds and talarisk.

It is possible to combine any of the following ideas :

A hike with a cart for children. A hike to observe birds and animal tracks Some days at the sea and some in the desert, or some days for fishing and some days in the desert.
